Transport of Aid Goods to Armenia
Since 2005, Stichting Alvan Tsarik has organized 18 container shipments. The containers were mostly loaded in Duiven, where the foundation had storage space. Initially, the shipments primarily consisted of humanitarian goods such as clothing and household items for the Zatik orphanage in Yerevan. Later, the focus expanded to include goals like village development and educational objectives such as regional libraries, childcare, and schools. Educational toys, books, computers, and school furniture were loaded into containers and shipped with the help of students from Candea College.
Most of the 18 containers were funded by us, with three containers paid for by the American UAF (United Armenian Fund), and the last container was financed by Famtofam together with Stichting Innerwaard.
At the moment, we do not have the means to fund transports, and we no longer have storage space. However, we do have extensive knowledge and experience to assist with transportation and are familiar with the routes. “Our” containers are already “green-lit” in Armenia at the start of transport, meaning the Humanitarian Committee in Yerevan grants prior approval for the shipment to be allowed into Armenia. Given the usual bureaucratic hurdles, this is quite exceptional. The local handling is also much quicker compared to shipments from other aid organizations.
If you are planning to organize a transport to Armenia, we are happy to share our knowledge and experience in exchange for a small part of the container, which we would use to send our own goods.
